This site is dedicated to the memory of Vicky Aston.

Vicky was an amazing, wife, Mum and Nana, she is missed every day. She fought bravely against her cancer as she wanted to live: to see all of her children thrive, grow up and to see new grandchildren arrive and the prospects of family weddings. Most importantly, she wanted to grow old with her husband, Robert. Sadly, ovarian cancer takes no prisoners and the battle was too much for her and on 1st January 2010 with all her immediate family at her side she said good-bye and started a new journey. Vicky’s husband, Robert, and three children Emily, Jonathan and Lauren are running the BUPA 10k on 30th May for Ovarian Cancer Action, through this event they want to remember Vicky, raise money for an amazing charity, and raise awareness. The earlier Ovarian cancer is detected the better the outlook. Vicky went to the doctors a year before she was diagnosed because she knew something was not right and complained of symptoms which we now know to be signs of Ovarian cancer. Unfortunately she was not listened to and the disease was diagnosed too late. If Vicky was diagnosed in the early stages the outlook could have been different. This is a story all too common with cancer sufferers. Any money you are able to spare would be very much appreciated and will be going towards an excellent cause. As well as raising money for an amazing charity if we reach our target of £1000 we will be able to set up a tribute in honour of Vicky Aston on the new Tribute Wall at the Ovarian Cancer Research Centre. Vicky will never be forgotten and I’m sure on the 30th May she will be willing her husband on. It is a true mark of how much Robert loved and misses Vicky as he is much happier in the pub with a beer than pounding the streets in his running shoes, and I am sure the sight of him in his running shorts on 30th May will bring a smile to her face!
